These terms are an agreement between you and The Open Apps, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("we", "us"), for the Shadowfolio plugin in ChatGPT and the website shadowfolio.ambientapp.ai. By using Shadowfolio you accept these terms. Our privacy policy explains how we handle data.

1. What Shadowfolio is

Shadowfolio turns an investing strategy you describe into explicit rules, runs those rules on past end-of-day prices of US-listed stocks and funds (a "backtest"), and, if you save the strategy, keeps applying the same rules after every US market close to a hypothetical portfolio (a "shadow portfolio"), so you can see how it would have done.

OpenAI provides ChatGPT and is not a party to these terms.

2. Not investment advice

Everything Shadowfolio shows is hypothetical and for information only. It is not investment, financial, legal or tax advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security or to follow any strategy. Shadowfolio never suggests securities or strategies of its own; it only runs rules that you describe.

Past results, whether backtested or tracked, do not predict future results. Simulated results have built-in limits: trades are assumed to fill at each day's closing price with a fixed cost, there are no taxes, slippage beyond that cost, borrowing or margin, and index lists use today's members for past periods, which makes results look better than they were. Real trading can differ a lot.

Shadowfolio cannot place trades, connect to brokerage accounts or move money, and never will. Make your own decisions, and consider talking to a licensed professional.

3. Prices

End-of-day prices come from Yahoo Finance. They may be delayed, incomplete, adjusted later or wrong, and a provider may be unavailable at times. Prices and results are provided for your personal, informational use; don't copy, resell or redistribute them.

4. Who can use it

You must be at least 13 years old to use Shadowfolio.

5. Fair use

Don't use bots or scripts to run backtests in bulk, extract price data, or overload the service. We may limit or block access that does.

6. Share links

A share link shows one saved strategy's name, rules and tracking record to anyone who has the link. Deleting the strategy or your data removes the link.

7. The service

We work to keep Shadowfolio available but can't promise it will always be, or that every strategy will be updated every day. Features, limits and the price data provider may change. We may end the service; if we do, we will say so on the website first.

8. Liability

Shadowfolio is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any investment or trading decision you make or any loss from it, and our total liability for any claim about Shadowfolio is limited to $50. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, except where your local consumer law requires otherwise.
